  • Ghana Mission Trip

    Our church is anticipating a mission trip to Ghana in 2009. The first planning meeting will be May 18, at 5:00 p.m. in room B113. Anyone interested in making such a trip is invited to attend. There is no obligation to sign up now, just come and hear about this exciting mission opportunity.
  • Evergreens Goes to Longwood Gardens!

    The Evergreen are sponsoring a day trip to the beautiful Longwood Gardens in Kenneth Square, Pa. on Thursday, May 29. The Gardens now encompasses 1,050 acres of gardens, woodlands, and meadows. Enjoy over 11,000 types of plants, more fountains than any other garden in the US. Costs: the Garden tour is $12 and you must buy you own lunch. Buses will leave Church at 9:00 a.m. and return at 6:00 p.m. All are invited, however, sign up through the Church Office.
  • Project Linus - “Providing Security Through Blankets”

    For several months the ‘Ladies For Linus’ ministry have been creating blankets for children in hospitals. If you can sew, cut, crochet, and/or knit, we invite you to join us each Tuesday Morning from 10:00 to 12:00 noon in room A203.
  • Women of Faith 2008 DC Conference

    There are only13 floor tickets available for the Women of Faith 2008 Conference, July11-12, at MCI Center in Washington, D.C. TICKETS ARE FOR Friday EVENING OPENING SERVICE and all day Saturday only $65.00. If you are interested contact Freda Cerne through the Church Office.
  • OUTRIGGER ISLAND – VBS

    Adult Island Guides are needed to come join the Vacation Bible School adventure this summer as kids learn to live God’s unshakeable truth. VBS runs June 23 through June 27 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. each night. If you are willing to help out, contact Kerrie Pariso through the Church Office.
  • Health Kits, A Service to Others

    Each year Maryland/Delaware Baptists provides health kits to be used in a variety of ministries including migrants, prison inmates, homeless and seamen. We welcome the following items for the health kits: toothbrush (adult), toothpaste (large), large comb (no rat tail combs), shampoo (full size), soap (full size bar), deodorant, wash cloth, large bath towel. There will be a collection box near the elevator until May 18. Thank you for helping.
  • FBC Sponsored Prom

    All 11th and 12th graders and young singles are invited to attend the third First Baptist Church Prom on May 15 at Riderwood’s Performance Hall. This year’s theme is “ENCHANTED EVENING”. Tickets are $35.00 and include a full dinner, dessert. To reserve your place, please contact Bill and Leslie Branch or Michelle Patschke through the Church Office.
  • Credit Crisis: Are You Concerned?

    Credit or unwise borrowing seem to be the curse of our nation, our municipalities, many of our large corporations, and at least 80% of American families. Come and hear what the scriptures have to say about the subject. The Biblical Meaning to Money course (taught by Gale and Joyce Wallace) will be holding a special 2-week session devoted to this topic on May 11 and 18 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in room B203A. All are welcome to attend.
  • Discover Membership at First Baptist

    Pastor Stan will be teaching our “Discovering Membership at FBCL” course today! This course is for anyone interested in what our church is about and what we believe. It is a required course for membership in our church. It features a course notebook, a PowerPoint presentation, and a free copy of the The Purpose Driven Life. The upcoming course will meet on Sunday, May 18 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room (light refreshments will be served).
  • Main Street Festival

    On May 10, The City of Laurel will hold it's annual Main Street Festival. First Baptist Church of Laurel will have a tent there to hand out literature and sno-cones. The festival starts at 9:00 am and goes til 5:00 pm. If you are interested in helping with set up and tear down, passing out literature, or fixing sno-cones please contact Pastor Ephraim through the Church Office.
  • National Day of Prayer

    The Prince George's County National Day of Prayer Steering Committee and Washington Bible College/Capital Bible Seminary present the Prince George's County National Day of Prayer Celebration on May 1 at the Lanham Campus. In order to engage the Prince George's County Christian Community in united prayer, two events have been planned: a Sunrise Service for Men (5:15-6:00 a.m. Praise and Worship, 6:00-6:45 a.m. Prayer) and an Afternoon Prayer Service for all (1:30-2:50 p.m.). Local government officials, an honor guard, and a marching band will join the event as local pastors lead prayer for the government, military, media, business, education, church and family.   • Intramural Volleyball

    Stadion Rec Ministries would like to announce the start of our first Intramural Volleyball League. The eight week season will be starting the week of May 19, games on Monday, Thursday and Friday nights. Register your 10 person (at least two of each gender per team) coed team, ages 16 and up, by May 7. For more information contact Jason Lebo through the Church Office.
  • Kitchen Training for Cooks and Cleanup Crew

    This is not training to become a certified Food Service Manager. However, you do not need to be a Food Service Manager to work in the FBC kitchen. We need cooks and people to cleanup. Kitchen training for cooks and cleanup crew will take place on May 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon and will include the new kitchen policies/rules and how to use the various equipment. This training will be repeated in the coming months. Signup for this training through the Church Office.
  • New Wednesday Adult Discipleship Study

    This is an eight week study “An Ordinary Day with Jesus”. This study is authored by the famous Christian authors John Ortberg and Ruth Haley Barton. Join Daryl George, your facilitator, on Wednesday nights beginning April 23, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in room A200.
